The Bellavista company
Bellavista is one of the most important companies in Franciacorta, a wine-producing region that has achieved international fame, quality and importance. Franciacorta is placing itself at the same level of Champagne in the sparkling wine, thanks to the same formula used in the famous French region, with the sparkling obtained by the classic method and the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc grapes (in place of the Meunier) to assembly or to be used in purity.
Bellavista is the most important and historical company of the region and of the area sparkling wine along with the other two historical and fundamental companies Berlucchi and Ca’ del Bosco. The headquarters of Erbusco host the company since its foundation in 1977, when Vittorio Moretti together with the oenologist Mattia Vezzola began the wine-making activities. Today Bellavista has an important production both for quality and quantity, with over one million bottles a year with wine making from about 180 hectares of which one hundred properties. Bellavista also allows visits to companies by appointment, but not the direct purchase of wines in the cellar.
Production
The production of Bellavista starts from its vineyards that the company wanted to divide into 107 parcels of different quality and organoleptic composition, in order to obtain balanced assemblies between vinifications in different grapes from the same parcels. The production of sparkling wine provides for the finest wines also 72 months of aging in bottle or partly in cask for some particular products. to be vinified separately and then assembled with the mastery of the large winery. The quality expressed by Bellavista is equal to that of many prestigious Champagnes, while even the production of still wines present wines of excellent quality.
In fact Bellavista produces not only sparkling wines but also great white wines, a very reputed and precious red wine, and a brandy distilled from the pomace used for winemaking. Sparkling wines remain the flagship of the company, with international quality and a range of six different wines. The red wine is instead protected by the name IGT and the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vines, while Chardonnay is the protagonist of the whites of the house, sometimes with small percentages of Pinot Blanc.
The wines
Bellavista therefore has a range of wines not only well nourished quantitatively but also of absolute quality. The most prestigious wine of the house is certainly the Gran Cuvée Imperiale Brut, vinified starting from 50% of Chardonnay and 50% of Pinot Noir. This wine of great value is produced in almost 90 thousand bottles. The tasting signals a fantastic golden color and a foam of great expression. Fine and lasting.
Excellent impact on the nose, special and fragrant, even aristocratic in some ways. Bergamot, bran and pollen can be clearly smelled, as well as beeswax and hazelnut. The express mineral freshness and the closing of flowers and chlorophyll are also splendid. Also on the palate, the tastes reflect the olfactory range, with a long closure and a fantastic structure that can be combined with the lobster cooked with potato sauce and sweet spices. It is refined for 7 months before marketing.
Another great expression is Franciacorta Gran Cuvée Satèn, a pure Chardonnay of 40,000 bottles a year. The color is a fantastic gold veined with emerald, also taken from the compact and light foam. Here too the nose is expressed in great complexity with green tea and verbena in herbaceous aromas, almond and grapefruit for its fruity appearance. Fantastic also the silky mouth, fine and fresh with minerality and hints of citrus. Perfect for spider salads refreshed with lemon juice. almond. Excellent palate, silky and enriched by the appeal to olfactory sensations. The mineral and citrus finish is very long, with excellent combinations for the granseola and lemon salad. Also present in the range is Franciacorta Gran Cuvée Rosé with a fantastic light pink and a beautiful olfactory range of red berries made from Pinot, while Chardonnay provides floral sensations and fresh minerality. The palate is also full of freshness, with lively bubbles and red fruits. Powerful enough to hold pairs even with lasagne.
A special mention goes to the sparkling wine dedicated to the founder Vittorio Moretti, with his dedicated Cuvée in gold and light bright green veins. Even here the bubbles are marked by lightness and finesse and the range of aromas is revealed fruity with the freshness of the medlar and delicate touches of white peach. Then they follow the classic citrus fruits and some flowers. The mouth is always very fresh thanks to a nice acidity balanced by the aromatic and fruity range. Excellent with seafood appetizers.
