    The peas with ham steak are a typical dish of Lazio, used as a side dish or, for the Romans, as a main and plentiful dish.
    The recipe is simple and very easy to prepare, and is an excellent solution for dinners with friends, cooking in a short time. You can choose between those frozen and fresh ones, with the difference that the latter are in need of a slight boil before being cooked with the rest of the ingredients.

    Instructions
    1. Chop the onion (1) and then prepare the ham. You'll have to cut the slices into strips first (2) and then into squares (3).
    2. So take a medium sized saucepan and pour 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil (4). Heat up and then put the onion to cook it over medium heat (5). After a minute, then also add the ham (6) and mix well to flavor everything.
    3. After flavored ham also add the red wine (7) and let it evaporate, stirring well (8) to perfume the ham. Once it evaporated almost completely, add the peas (9) and stir well.
    4. Cook the peas for a few minutes, stirring constantly, then add the hot vegetable stock (10). Add salt lightly, remembering that you are dealing with already savory ingredients above, mix well (11) and then add pepper (12). Let go of the cooking for about 15 or 20 minutes, checking the peas without too dry the sauce. Once ready switch off the heat and let rest for about an hour before serving on the table.
