The strawberries with cream are a dessert easy to do it, called generally in Italy dolci al cucchiaio because made directly in a cup, to be served. They generally made with creams, classic or fruity, and very tasty. The name, in Italian, means sweets at “the spoon”, suggests in fact a dessert to be eaten straight with the spoon.
This recipe is prepared with a classic cream made with milk, eggs, flour and sugar, cooked slowly on the stove and then cooled in the fridge. Once done, you have just to garnished with fresh strawberries. The cream should be cooked gently with very low heat to thicken it. This desserts are very popular for the children to who you will have the opportunity to serve a home-made product.
Instructions
- Open the eggs and separate the egg whites (1), which you can throw away, from the yolks (2), to put in a small bowl. Then stir the yolks well (3).
- Pour the milk (4) into a pot to heat over low fire. Wash the lemon and cut a piece of skin (5) to put in the milk (6).
- Add the sugar (7) into the eggs and stir again to mix before sieving the flour in (8). Then stir again energetically with a fork (9) or a whisk.
- When the milk is hot, remove the lemon zest (10) and pour in the egg (11). Then mix well (12) with the wooden spoon but slowly, to thicken the cream.
- When the cream has thickened (13), pour it into the cups (14) where you will serve the cake. Wash the strawberries (15) and dry them.
- Cut the strawberries into small pieces (16) and place them on top of the cream (17) leaving an empty space in the middle. Take a whole strawberry, cut off the green part and place it in the middle (18) as a decoration, where you left the empty space. Put the cups in the refrigerator to rest for at least an hour before serving them.
